While looking for a body for my chassis project, I came across this 1930 Tudor Sedan for sale. The same day I saw the ad, I made a call to Joe Domino in Kingsville. The car was still there in his garage so I hooked up my trailer and we drove to Kingsville. Joe was a great guy and made sure I had all the parts that went with it. His neighbor even helped us load it. I got back to my shop and unloaded around midnight. Below is a photo of me and Joe and my new project loaded and ready to bring home.
Some history I've now gotten: I now hear that this car was originally driven as a "hunting car" for someone who went to Churchill High school in SA (still has the parking sticker on it). It had gun racks installed in it. Then it was bought by someone in Houston, and then ended up with Joe in Kingsville. Now it has made its way all the way back to SA for me to take care of.
8/1/2009 - You wouldn't believe what this looks like now! It is completely disassembled. I am using the body and putting it on my other chassis from Tom. I have the body completely sandblasted and have done some of the body work by cutting out some areas and welding in some patch panels. Then smoothing it all out. The doors are almost finished and ready to paint. I bought all new wood from Ray so will have that when I get to that part.
8/15/2009 lifted out the engine and am using it for my other chassis since the one I originally was cracked. So now I will need another engine for this car, and a body, and tons of other parts. But that will be my 2010 project so it will have to wait until I have more time and MORE MONEY!
11/1/2009 - This project has become a parts supplier. The body we have determined is not good, but I will salvage a variety of parts from it. 11/5 OOPS! Just when I thought I would need to find a body, Ray has decided we can salvage this one and make it work. That is a relief and even though it will cost a little money and a lot of work, it will be one more Model A body saved from being chopped up! So I will post photos of the body work as I work on it. It might look OK in the photo below but it was truly a mess inside.
Ray is lending me his roller to set the body on and he helped me get to the point in the photo below.
